René TAZE
Print-engraver, Etcher
Craft National Living Treasures 2006
The workshop of René TAZE, printer, engraver, sweet cut, is located 6th rue Hittorf, Paris 75010. Observing the Master working with the mechanical press, in front of an aquatint, a graver, a dry-pike, an etching, a sweet-cut is long story without words.
The cut, pasting, the delicate laying of plywood, the spotting with needle, the contact print on different plates and the mix of colours transport us in a ballet where the precise gesture of the working man break the silence.
The cheesy veneer, the wash tint, the copper engraving, zinc or high steel burnt with perchloric acid, with the contribution of carborundum caress of the press’ plates. This embossment will be found in famous art gallery as well as in books of quality and bibliophily with lead typography.
René TAZE opened his workshop in 1978. He started in 1969 in LEBLANC-LALLIER workshop and CROMMELYNCK where he prints for PICASSO and the main American artists… In his establishment, we can meet Klapheck, Barcelo… a young artist will receive the same hearty welcome…
