Francis MIGEON
Ivory sculptor
Craft National Living Treasures 1996
Ivory has always been synonymous with luxury and sensuality. The recent creations and restorations made on collectors items by Migeon's workshop are the most compelling proof of it .
However, to Francis Migeon, this noble material represents more than a mere tradition, it is the tradition of a precious workmanship which had crossed the ages. That’s in this workshop, founded in 1830 by Celestin Migeon, and then taken over by his son Adrien, that Francis, descendant of the latter, and his son Benoît Migeon now work as sculptors on ivory, a rare profession. The workshop extends its activities from contemporary creations to restoration of original ivory objects. Traditional and modern tools, allied to workmanship and a wide choice of old rough ivory the workshop has had at its disposal for 4 generations, enable them to make top quality restorations.
CREATIONS Statuettes, jewels, unusual objects, ivory/resin mosaic, unique objects, sculptures on scorched ivory, chess board, collectors eggs, The creations of Migeon's workshop are sold during patrimony and art crafts fairs, essentially around France, and in luxury shops. You can also discover the workshop's objects in specialized galleries. Shows and sales are organized in the workshop (only by appointment).
RESTORATION Restoration of old ivory objects (mainly statued sculptures and low relieves) Estimate by appointment.
