Alain BUYSE (....-....)
Silkscreen printer
Craft National Living Treasures 2004
To interpret the works of artists in order to execute multiples; such is the craft of the silk screener. His tool is a silk screen, metal frame upon which is stretched a cloth that he has manually or photographically prepared so as to make a stencil through which he will pass the ink with a rubber squeegee.
This procedure makes it possible to print on all supports, vellum paper as well as fabric, metal, wood, glass and all the plastics.
Prints, livres d’artiste, posters, as well as objects (plaster, glasses for example) are the principle creations with the artists.
The practice with very numerous artists requires a particular capacity to adapt to each one so as to adopt his sensibility and then translate it using the technique in an appropriate and individual way.
